Norbert M. Meurer, age 89, a longtime resident of Corpus Christi, went to his heavenly home on October 27, 2015.
Norbert was born on September 5, 1926, on a farm near Fredricksburg, Texas, to Carl and Meta Meurer.
Shortly after graduating from high school, he moved to San Antonio to work for the International Harvester Company. He met his first wife, Florence, in San Antonio, and they married on April 3, 1951. Norbert and Florence continued to live in San Antonio, until they were transferred to Corpus Christi in 1957. Florence passed away on November 3, 2009, and Norbert remarried his second wife Hortencia in 2010.
Norbert spent his entire working career in the farm equipment business and owned San Patricio Truck and Tractor in Taft until his retirement at age 73. He was an avid hunter and fishermen, spending many days on Lake Corpus Christi, Padre Island and the Laguna Madre, fishing with his family. He enjoyed gardening and raising cattle at 'The Farm' near Stockdale Texas, and was particularly proud of his pecan and fruit orchard Above all he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and a devout Catholic with a strong faith in God. He will be sadly missed by all.
Norbert was preceded in death by brothers: Otto, Alex, Johnny, Hugo, and Carl; sisters, Nora Nebgen and Elise Langhennig.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church on Friday, October 29, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
