OBIT: Gladyse Elmyra Madsen, age 85, died Wednesday, May 25, 1994 at Osseo Area Nursing Home. Gladyse was born December 3, 1908, to Edwin and Elmyra (Gray) Doughty in the Town of Waterville, Pepin Co. She married Edward Barber September 6, 1926, in Durand. They also lived in Webster and Osseo, where Gladyse was active in Lutheran Church Women, the Eastern Star, and Girl Scouts, of which she served as chairman of the area council for several years. She and Ed moved to Baker, Montana in 1965, and she was proud to earn her high school diploma there. Ed preceded her in death May 15, 1972. Gladyse later married Clarence Harbicht and resided in Buffalo, Wyoming. She liked listening to Clarence's banjo music. Following his death, she married Harold Madsen and enjoyed their travels. She returned to Osseo in November 1990, and had been a resident of the Nursing Home since February 1991. She loved children, fix-up projects, and reading, and had a good sense of humor. She is survived by her husband, Harold, Buffalo, WY; four children: Edward Barber, Jr. Osseo; Ruth (Stan)Elberson, Fort Collins, CO; Merri (Clyde) Burns, Baker, MT; Jeanne Langner, Osseo; two brothers; Holt Doughty, Arkansas, WI, and Edwin Doughty, Salem, OR; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Homer Barber. Arrangements by Schiefelbein Funeral Home with burial in Osseo Cemetery.
