He resided in St. Petersburg, FL for 60 years and was a retired banker. Before moving to Tennessee, due to poor health, he was a member of Clearview United Methodist Church. Among the many duties he performed, he was most proud of being a founding member of starting the pumpkin patch, which is well known in Pinellas County.
Mr. Airey was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina Airey, a daughter-in-law, Beverly Daffron, and a grandson, Christopher Daffron.
He is survived by his three sons, Larry Daffron and wife Trudy of Lilburn, GA, Greg Daffron of Durham, NC, Wiley Daffron and wife Gail, fifteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by R. Lee Williams and Son Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL, on Saturday, October 24, at 2 p.m.
