McMinnville resident and Duncan, Okla., native Gilbert Lynn Averyt Jr., 51, died May 5 at River Park Hospital after a month illness.

A retired serviceman of the U.S. Army where he served his country in the Vietnam War and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of Gilbert Lynn and Eva Louise Averyt, Sr. of Marlow, Okla.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Wanda Hennessee Averyt; three daughters, Jacqueline Danielle Averyt of McMinnville, Glennyda Stanley and Lynnette Carmack, both of Glendale, Airz.; two sons, Morgan Lynn Averyt of McMinnville and Wade Stanley of Arizona; five sisters, Hazel Zieglier of Ohio, Judy Fox of Kansas; Linda Calloway, Carolyn Duncan and Patricia Schlittler, all of Texas; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at High's Chapel with Tim Long officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.

High's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
