Somis Phillip Baker, 67 of Battiest died Friday night at Memorial hospital in Hugo.

Services were Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Methodist church with Isaac James officiating and burial was in Bethel cemetery. Lampton Funeral home of Hugo was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Baker was a retired farmer and a World War II veteran, and lived in Battiest most of his life.

He was born Jan. 4, 1900 at Bethel, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Phelan Baker.

The deceased was a Methodist.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; five sons, Billy Paul, Junior and Dukes Baker, all of Hugo, and Wendell and Gilbert of Battiest; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Sims of Hugo and Misses Marie and Pearlie Mae Baker, of Battiest; a step son, Julius Bohannon of Hugo, a step daughter, amars. Ethel Constantine of Hugo; a sister, Mrs. Ida Melton of Talihina; two brothers, Joe and Chimon Baker of Battiest; and four grandchildren.
