Kathleen Singleton completed her earthly journey October 19, 2015 and made her final move into the welcoming arms of her loving Lord and Savior. She was born September 4, 1926 in Pasco County, Florida to John and Grace Storch Eiland. She met Troy J. Singleton in Alabama and married him after a two-week courtship. Troy and Kathleen were married for sixty three years until his death in 2004. Kathleen was a longtime resident of the Pensacola area. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, fish, garden, and nurture her family. She was blessed to see both her children celebrate fifty years of marriage. She was a breast cancer survivor since 1966, and even though dementia and a recurrence of bladder cancer ultimately led to her death, her fighting spirit was still evident in her final days. Kathleen loved her church, East Brent Baptist, where she was a longtime member. She served in several areas of the church’s ministry and often told others of her love for teaching children’s Sunday school. She also found joy and excitement in her position as one of the original teachers in East Brent’s kindergarten program. During her later years, she enjoyed participating in the homebound ministry by calling or visiting members. Kathleen worked in healthcare for many years after graduating from Baptist Hospital’s first class of nurses’ aides. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is predeceased by her great-grandson, Chad David Del Gallo, grandson-in-law, Carl Holderfield; three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her children, James and BJ Singleton, Margaret and Ned Couey; grandchildren, Tonya and David Del Gallo, Leigh Ann Holderfield and Bryan Singleton; great-granddaughters, Carlie Del Gallo and Anna Del Gallo; and her sister, Lillian Ullrich.
Because of Kathleen’s love of both children and flowers, floral arrangements will be accepted or donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home (1000 Chemstrand Road, Cantonment, FL 32533) or to a charity of your choice
Services will held be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Clopton Cemetery.
Luke 6:31 was a special verse to Kathleen. It states “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you”. She often quoted a version of this when speaking with her family.
Although her home going separates us, we have been blessed with her legacy of family and faith as well as our wonderful memories of our Mother, Sister and Nanny.
FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is entrusted with arrangements.
