Services will be at 2 PM Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory with Dr. Elbert G. Peak and the Rev. Michael R. Schirle officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Blanks was born in Matlie in Stonewall County and lived in the Abilene area most of her life. She attended school in Abilene.
She married Charlie Blanks in 1931 in Abilene and he preceded her in death.
Her husband, in 1932, sold his watch and an old ambulance he owned to make the down payment on the club's property, which was then on the old Potosi Road. The club, which opened in 1937, hosted such singers as Fats Domino and Bob Wills.
"I love the club, it means a lot to me," she said in an October 21, 1979 Abilene Reporter-News story after the building was damaged by fire. "We dug the foundation. Me and Charlie and another couple."
The Blanks' operated the club for 19 years.
After her husband's death in 1956, she worked at The Spot, a fast food service for students at South Junior High, now Jefferson Middle School.
She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, formerly Highland Park Baptist Church, and for many years, donated and arranged flowers at the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Alexander and LaDonna McGee, both of Abilene; one son, Charlie Hollis Blanks of Abilene; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Big Country or Heritage Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 3-5 PM today in the funeral home.
