John Reece: THE TRIBUNE, New Bern, July 14, 1933, Obituary: Funeral services for John Reece, Broad Street, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home early Wednesday morning, will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from St. Mary's Free Will Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Rev. J.C. Griffin, a former pastor assisted by Rev. E. C. Gaskill, present pastor, will conduct the services. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be U.W. Daugherty, Sherman Daugherty, John flowers, E.W. Turnage, E.R. Gaskins and A.C. Caton, all members of Mr. Reeces Bible Class. Mr. Reece was a highly respected member of the community, known for his Christian character. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was operator of a store at Broad and Carroll Streets. His widow, one daughter and one son survive him.
