HAMMOND -- Funeral services for Margaret Vargo Bankston, 84, a Ponchatoula native, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, from Hungarian Presbyterian Church of Albany. Burial was in Hungarian Presbyterian Church Cemetery under the direction of Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home of Hammond. Mrs. Bankston died Monday, June 7, in Cannon Hospice, Jefferson. Survivors are three sons, Richard Bankston Jr. and Ronald L. Bankston of Hammond, and Warren S. Bankston of Kenner; two brothers, Raymond Vargo of Baton Rouge and Louis Vargo of Mandeville; three sisters, Helen Whitaker of Hammond, Hilda Pitts of Joplin, Mo., and Aline Seal of Mandeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Bankston Sr; her parents, Louis E. and Emma Pal Vargo; and one grandchild.
