Donna A. Smith, 77, of White Oak, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, in John J. Kane Regional Center in McKeesport. Born April 11, 1938, in West Mifflin, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Mildred (Sheplar) Barncord. Donna worked as a nursing assistant, specializing in geriatrics near Silver Spring, Md., where she made her home. After her retirement, she moved to this area in October of 2004. Donna was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and the National AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. Smith, who died July 7, 2001; and her siblings, Dorothy Battles, Mildred Myers, Lois Cramer and Beatrice Cummins and John W., Howard and Edward Barncord. Donna is survived by her daughter, Lynn A. (Mark O.) Rathbun of Fort Washington, Md.; her son, Dale Helmstadter, of Middletown, Ohio; her granddaughter, Megan A. Rathbun; her brother, James H. Barncord, of Wauchula, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, in the DANIEL F. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132, 412-678-3454. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct., 16, 2015, in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Heaton officiating. Procession and burial will follow to Mt.
