Centerville- George A. Holton,72, 4691 Pottershop Road, died Friday morning at Reid Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
He had spent most of his life in the Abington area and was retired employee of Richmond Gear Works. where he had worked 36 years. He was a member off the Abington Christian Church, served on the board of the Abington Cemetery Association, was a member of the Abington Volunteer Fire Department, and the Brownsville Masonic Lodge, No. 70, Order of Eastern Star in Brownsville and the Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite. His wife, Clara Aretta Holton, died in 1983.Survivors include
four daughters, Barbara Brady of Richmond, and Marilyn Phenis, Linda Pate and Pam Pardo, all of Abington; one sister, Lettie Winters of Fountain City; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two nieces; one aunt.
Funeral service for George A. Holton will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the Abington Christian Church, with the Rev. Bud Parrish Officiating. Burial will be in the Abington Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at Mills Funeral Home in Centerville, where the Brownsville Masonic Lodge will have a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
