Ethel Mae Carson, 14, of Piney, Clarion County, died at the Oil City Hospital at 4 p.m. Tuesday from burns, suffered about five weeks ago. The girl was burned when she attempted to light the kitchen stove while using oil. The home was destroyed by the fire and the girl was burned over her legs and body. The daughter of Richard A. and Goldie Elizabeth McCool Carson, she was born at Fern on Feb. 15, 1927. She was a member of the freshman class of the Sligo High School and also a member of the Fern Church of God. She is survived by her parents, one sister, Twila Leurena, and a brother, Richard I. Dana, both at home. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Boyer Funeral home at Knox with the Rev. Orvis Meeckley, of Kane, officiating. Interment will be in the Fertigs, Venango County Cemetery. - The News-Herald (Franklin, PA) Wed., Nov. 19, 1941.
