Charles H. Andrus
JEROME - Charles H. Andrus, 81, of Jerome, died Monday at his home of natural causes.
He was born Aug. 6, 1900, at Ora, Idaho. He was reared and educated at Elba. He married Mildred Stone on June 1, 1926, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They moved to Jerome in 1928, where he farmed and then later operated the A and L Grocery and also the Andrus Hardware. He moved to Burley in 1957 and while in the Mini-Cassia area he operated Andy's Cafe. He returned to Jerome in 1969.
He was a member of the LDS Church, had served a mission in the eastern states from 1923 to 1925 and had served as bishop of the Jerome Second Ward from 1943 until 1950. He was a charter member and past president of the Jerome Lions Club and had also served as a Jerome County commissioner. His wife preceded him in death in December of 1957.
Surviving are a son, Charles L. Andrus of Jerome; four daughters, Mrs. Keith (Mildred) Wert of Wendell, Mrs. Keith (Maurine) Parker of Acequia, Mrs. Wayne (Marlene) Reeves of Kimberly and Afton Jolley of Burley; three brothers, Bill Andrus of Glendale, Ariz., George Andrus of Jerome and Ted Andrus of Hagerman; a sister Mrs. Lewis (Margaret) Ottley of Elba; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Jerome LDS 6th Ward Chapel, north of the high school, with Bishop Robert E. Williams III Officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls.
