Ted was the son of Hyrum and Virginia Garner Andrus, born January 24, 1919 in Elba, Idaho. He was the youngest of seven children. He received his early education in Jerome at the Sugar Loaf School House, where he graduated. He worked for several farmers and ranchers in the Jerome area.
Ted married Arlyane Blanche Bartholomew on November 15, 1940 in Ogden, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last November.
They made their home in Jerome where he worked for his oldest brother, Charles, until he volunteered for the Army. He served for 18 months during World War II, with active duty in Japan and the Philippines.
After an honorable discharge he returned to his wife and family and went back to farming and ranching. This became a lifelong profession for over 70 years. Ted was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Arlyane; two sons: Dennis (Susie) Andrus and Clinton (Penny) Andrus, both of Hagerman; daughter, Beverly (Karl) Nelson, of Twin Falls, and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Andrus, of Twin Falls; 29 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and one sister; son, Gary; and grandson, David.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Hagerman LDS Church. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Jerome Cemetery.
