Miles Canary Lane
GATE CITY -- Miles Canary (Nary) Lane, 72, of the Dan'l Boone Community died at Holston Valley Community Hospital in Kingsport at 2:30 p.m. Saturday [11/23/1974] after a long illness.
A retired farmer, he was a lifelong resident of Scott County and attended a Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Loretta Strong Lane; daughters, Mrs. Nellie Derrick of Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Harold (Mary) Rhoton and Mrs. Lessie (Edna) Carrico, both of Gate City, and Mrs. Bob (Shirley) Stokes, Columbia, S.C.; a son, Harlan Lane, Weber City; brother, Lloyd Lane, Gate City; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.

Funeral services for Miles Canary (Nary) Lane will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of the Scott County Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Combs, Rev. Luther Lane, Rev. Claude Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evening. Pallbearers will be Micheal Rhoten, Danny Lane, Marshall Lane, Glen Beard, Jerry Head, Don Stokes, J. Wampler, Jake Calhoun, Garland Stokes, & Gary Walters. Scott County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
