[I have changed the way I list married Italian women's family names. In reading about Italian naming conventions I learned that Italian women keep their own surnames after marriage, and optionally add the husband's surname after theirs. So I have concluded that the way to show a married Italian woman's surname in Find-A-Grave is to put all family names in the surname field, and nothing in the maiden name field. This person's surname is now shown as "Gualtieri Smiderle Cassis" with no maiden name. I would welcome a message from anyone who knows Italian names and can give me better guidance. - David H.]
