[I originally listed her as having the maiden name Gianniotti, but I have been reading about Italian naming conventions, and learned that Italian women keep their own surnames after marriage, and optionally add the husband's surname after theirs. So I have concluded that the way to show a married Italian woman's surname in Find-A-Grave is with two words in the surname field, and nothing in the maiden name field. This person's surname is now shown as "Gianniotti Smiderle". I would welcome a message from anyone who knows Italian names and can give me better guidance. - David H.]
