Also nicknamed "Whitey," age 86, the son of the late William and Vivian Campbell Bennett. He was a member of New Apostolic Church, Erie. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII, participating in the American Theater campaign. He was a member of Girard American Legion. He was a former member of the Albion Area Lions Club and the Northwestern Food Pantry. He retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad in 1985, as a clerk, after 42 years of service. He also worked part time for the Albion Phone Company, Tuckers Hardware and Hites Appliance Store, in Albion.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Bennett, a brother, Howard Bennett, two sisters Ruth Jones and Audrey Jones.

He is survived by his wife, June Hill Bennett, whom he married on June 19, 1948; a son, Gary Bennett, Beatty, Nev.; two daughters, Melodee Pencille, Lake City, Pa. and Patti Irwin and her husband, Randy, Meadville, Pa. He is further survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Burial in Hope Cemetery, Wellsburg.
