Mr. John Stanley “Johnny” McClaran, age 63, of Eagleville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2015 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Mr. McClaran was born in Rutherford Co. and was a son of the late J. W. and Dorothy Gillespie McClaran. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and a very giving friend to many. Mr. McClaran was known by all his family and friends as “Johnny Mac”. Johnny Mac was a graduate of Eagleville High School Class of 1969 and served in the Tennessee Army National Guard for six years. He drove a trailer truck for Boyce Livestock for many years, worked for Jones Electric and Smotherman Fencing, but will most be remembered for his many years of service at the Eagleville Co-Op.

Johnny Mac was a man of many musical talents and he used those talents playing the guitar and bass guitar, but will be mainly remembered for his banjo playing. He loved all of the many groups and individuals that he had the pleasure of playing music with throughout the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Catherine Grace and Kara Grace McClaran.

Mr. McClaran is survived by his wife of 43 years, Suzanne Simpson McClaran, Eagleville, TN; son, Davy (Melissa) McClaran, Chapel Hill, TN; brother, Jerry A. McClaran, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Ryley and Owen McClaran, Chapel Hill, TN; niece, Gretchen (Lucas) Thompson; great nieces, Lizzy, Meah and Eden Thompson; best friend and like a brother, Bill Vaughn; best neighbor, Jane Shelton and two cats, Chase and Buddy.

Family members will receive friends on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon Austell and Rev. David Ghee officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.

Bill Vaughn, Don Lamb, Jerry Jones, Matt Vaughn, Will Vaughn, and Jeff Blackwell will serve as active pallbearers. Musicians that he played with throughout the years will serve as honorary pallbearers.
