Memorial services for Phil will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until services begin at 7:00 p.m.. Phil’s family will be present to greet friends during the visitation.
Phillip Stephen Klar was born on September 19, 1956, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Lila (Maynard) Klar. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District. Phil graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1975. Following High School, Phil, honorably served his country by joining the United States Marine Corps.
On June 3, 1978, Phil was united in marriage to Della (Mathers) Klar at the Anson Shelter House in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was a hardworking man dedicating 26 years of his life to MICA. Phil had a passion for his family, woodworking, motorcycles, model cars, sitting outside while sipping on a cold one and music.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Natasha Klar, Trisha Corter, Jake (Audrey) Knott, Krista Snow, Jon (Rachelle) Burke, Joe (Kaylynn) Burke, Paul (cuddle buddy) Adelmund and many more that were adopted; grandchildren: Kitiona, Jordyn, Andrew Jr, Erick, Rebekah, Bryan, Iolene, Phoenix, Aaliha, Kaylee, Shane, Trinity and many more adopted; siblings: Ted Klar, Jack (Hazel) Klar, Tom Klar, Sparky (Lisa) Workman and Stick (Teresa) Burke; many nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents.
