m: Hezekiah Depew Jan 25, 1844 at DeKalb Co IN. Hezekiah wass murdered in 1858 and is buried at Kepner Cemetery, Henry Co MO.

1850 census, Cedar Creek, Allen IN: DEPEW Hezekiah/27, Margaret E/26, Lavina/2.

Hezekiah was stabbed to death by a neighbor, Charles Pemberton, in Bogard, Henry Co MO in 1858, leaving Margaret a widow with six young children.

1860 census, Bogard, Henry Co MO: DEPEW, Margaret, Larinia/12, Allen/11, Alvira/8, Angeline/6, Joseph/4, Andrew/3.

Margaret remarried to John Smith abt 1862
their children were
-Mary/Maria Belle Smith
-Jeremiah Smith.
The marriage ended in divorce and Margaret and the two Smith children took the name of Depew before the 1870 census.

*Maria Belle and Jeremiah Depew are shown as Depew, they were born as Smith, it is unclear if their names were formally changed to Depew after Margaret divorced Smith and took back name of Depew.

**granddaughter Harriet Beach is the orphaned dau of Angeline Depew Beach. Harriet was raised by her maternal grandmother Margaret Depew and her paternal grandparents John and Sarah Beach.

Based on the birthplaces of their children, Hezekiah and Margaret moved their family to Bogard, Henry Co MO less than a year before his death in 1858.
