Mrs. Grace Burckhalter, 95, entered into rest, October 2, 2015.
Interment in Jackson Memorial Park.
Mrs. Burckhalter was born in Ellenton, South Carolina and moved her home and family to Jackson, South Carolina where she lived for 64 years. She was a retired employee of the Aiken County School System having worked at Jackson and Silver Bluff High Schools. Mrs. Burckhalter was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, the Philathea Sunday School Class, the B.A.L.L. Club and the Hopewell Chapter of Order of Eastern Star since 1978. She volunteered at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Augusta. Mrs. Burckhalter was a great southern cook and a faithful servant of God. She spent her life surrounded by friends of all ages and an extended family. Mrs. Burckhalter was generous with her time and often gave gifts and money anonymously. She was preceded in death by her husband W. Harvin Burckhalter; two sisters, Corinne Eargle and Ollie Glaze; three brothers, Otis C. Bell, John C. Bell and Robert E. Bell.
Survivors include a son, John Burckhalter, Columbia, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and James Cox, Athens, GA; two grandchildren, Laurie (Tim) Robinson and James A. (Monica) Cox; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Jacob Robinson, and Bennett and Molly Cox.
