DUNKIRK - Juanita Ileen Mettler, 90, of Dunkirk, IN passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, September 29, 2015 at her residence.
She was born September 11, 1925 in Celan, IN the daughter of William Wilson and Edna Graham (Derickson) Gierhart.
Ileen retired in 1990 after fifteen years managing the Jay Co. High School Cafeteria. She had also been employed as a seamstress for Hinkles Dry Cleaner and Lees Men's Shop. She was a member of the First American Baptist Church of Dunkirk, IN.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Edward Allen Mettler; a son, Stanley A. Mettler (wife, Linda) of Mooreland, IN; and a daughter, Karen Mettler; two brothers, Ernie Gierhart of Portland, IN and Richard Gierhart (wife, Carolyn) of Muncie, IN; three sisters, Mona Fairchild of Portland, IN, Doris Duke of Portland, IN and Jean Bricker of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Janessa Erickson of Mooreland, IN and Katherine Faith (husband, Michael) of Fishers, IN; two great grandchildren, William Erickson and Brandon Faith; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
A service to celebrate Ileen's life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2015 at Dunkirk Memorial Chapel of Dunkirk, IN.
Burial will follow Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
