Thursday afternoon, at 4 o'clock, at the residence of the bride's mother, on Marietta street, Miss Angelyn Adams was united in marriage to Rev. A. A. Marshall. The ceremony was witnessed by only a few friends, and immediately after Mr. and Mrs. Marshall left for Asheville, where they will spend several weeks. They will then make an extensive tour before returning home. A large number of valuable presents attested the popularity of the bride and groom. Miss Adams is the youngest daughter of Mrs. Leonora E. Adams, and is a young lady noted for her beauty and culture.

Constitution, May 27, 1897

Mrs. A. A. Marshall, wife of Rev. A. A. [Alexis Abraham] Marshall, pastor of the Jackson Hill Baptist church, died at her home, 23 Morrison avenue, yesterday morning of a lingering illness. The funeral will occur from the residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock, and the interment will be in Oakland cemetery.

Mrs. Marshall was one of the loveliest of women, both in person and character. She was for a number of years the principal of Boulevard school, and won all hearts by her warm sympathy, ability to teach and direct, and self-sacrificing devotion to her work.

While one of the best principals the public schools ever had, she so tempered authority with kindness and consideration as to cause a devotion on the part of her assistants never excelled, and rarely equaled. Two years ago she resigned her position in the public school to marry Rev. A. A. Marshall the 27th of June, 1895.

-------
Rev. Alexis Marshall appears on the 1900 census with wife Janie, with whom he has been married one year. The census indicates she has never had children. The household includes four children born between 1881 and 1888, [apparently to a previous wife] as well as a son, Thompson, born in 1896 [to Angelyn].

Rev. Marshall died in Raleigh, NC on August 17, 1902. His obituary says he was married three times. He was survived by six children, the youngest was the only child of his third wife, and was just a month old. The obituary said his body was interred in Raleigh, but would be removed to GA at a later date. No burial location was given for either state.
