The following is from the Saline County Kansas Coroner's Records:
He died in Elm Creek Township.
Ransom Calkin said Crowther went down bringing in a fish net. Young Goodall went to the rescue but went down. Neither the old man or son came up after going down. George Burter said there were 8 men besides himself fishing there. Crowther was from 40-45 years old. Goodall was about 50 and a very excitable man. They were in the Saline River near the confluence with the Smoky Hill River.
