Douglas, Virginia, died on May 8, 2001. She was 77. She is survived by her husband, Hubert Douglas, of Wilton Manors. Born Virginia Jane Barker on September 5, 1923, in Charleston, West Virginia, she graduated from Gassaway High School and moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the government during World War II. She married Hubert Douglas in 1946. Sh removed to Ft. Lauderdale in 1964, with her husband and three children. She retired from the government in the late 1980's to enjoy reading, writing poetry, singing in her church choir, and helping to homeschool her grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sons, Gene Douglas of Wilton Manors and Stanley Douglas of Tampa, her seventeen grandchildren, one great grandchild, and her brother, Richard Barker, of Charleston, West Virginia. A memorial Service will be held for her on Thursday, May 10, 2001, 7:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 512 N.E. 26th Street, Wilton Manors. Instead of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, Broward County Chapter, 8333 W. McNab Road #210, Tamarac, Florida 33321. Arrangements by Kali's Funeral Home.
