Daniel Alex Dix was born on January 3, 1930, to Alex and Emma (Cournoyor) Dix in Bakerville, WI. He was baptized and confirmed at Corpus Christie Catholic Church in Bakerville (Marshfield), WI. Dan attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Lincoln Public School in Bakerville. On February 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to Rita Marie Genett at Corpus Christie Catholic Church in Bakerville. The newlyweds moved to Monroe, WI, where Dan worked as a farm hand. In 1952, they moved to Waterloo, WI. There, Dan worked as a Production Supervisor for the Kress Packing Company for 15 years. Dan and Rita also raised 7 children, Rhonda, Debra, Dana, Tonya, Robert, Michael, and Kevin. In 1967, he worked as a machinist for RaJo Industries in Waterloo, and two years later moved his family to Clear Lake, WI. During this time, Dan owned and operated his own welding and repair business, D&S Welding, which is now Clear Lake Iron. He also ran a hobby farm and drove bus for the School District of Clear Lake. In 1982, Dan was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and soon became unable to farm or work in the welding shop. He then started Dan's EZ Ride business and sold mobility products like the electric cart he used. Dan loved nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and viewing wildlife. He also enjoyed polka dancing, socializing with friends and family, playing cards and watching the Packers. He was known for his familiar smile and great sense of humor. Dan was also an active member of St. John's Catholic church in Clear Lake. He had been a resident of the Golden Age Manor in Amery since 2010 and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
