Mary Ann was born in Bern but baptised at Uetendorf, Bern canton , her families home community. Her given name was Anna Maria Janni daughter of Johannes Janni (John Yenney)and Susanna Rindisbacher. She immigrated to New York state in Dec 1835 with her parents / siblings. She first married Nicholas Strauchen ~ 1842, had 3 children with him before he died in Georgia. She re-married Gottlieb Heidner 26 July 1849 at Bleecker Fulton county New York - they had another 8 children before her early death at Union Mills.
