Born as Johannes Janni , he was the son of Christen Janni and Christina Baler. He married Susanna Rindisbacher on 5th August 1820 in Uetendorf. His family lines can be traced back to the 1600's in Uetendorf plus nearby Thun & Riggisberg.
John arrived with his wife and children in New York state in Dec 1835 and made Bleecker his home where he farmed until his death.
