Obituary for Carol K. Yocum

Carol Yocum, 85, of Topeka,formerly of Iola, passed away,Saturday May 29, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was born May 31, 1924 in Iola, KS the daughter of Robert and Letha Stateler Yocum. She worked for 20 years as a medical assistant for Dr. Frank Lenski, Sr. and Dr. Frank Lenski, Jr. in Iola, Kansas. Carol then moved to Topeka, Kansas where she was employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield 21 years. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle and assisted with the Lutheran Brail Workers. Carol volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for several years. She is survived by her sisters, Alta Frantz of Seattle, WA; her twin sister Farel (Phil) Nicholas of Lake San Marcos, CA; Diana (Fred) Rinner of Topeka. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma McBee and Verl Childress. Cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 5, 2010 in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Johns Lutheran Church, 901 SW Filmore, Topeka KS 66606 or to the Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village, 7220 Asbury Drive, Topeka, KS 66614. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
