Hazel Hollars Walls, 92, of Hwy. 105 South, Vilas, died Nov. 19, 2010 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation. She was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Watauga County, NC. She was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. She enjoyed all her grandchildren and her many flower and vegetable gardens.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Walls Huff and husband, J. D., of North Wilkesboro; two granddaughters, Crystal Smith and husband, David, of Matthews and Debra Harrison and husband, Bill, of Marion; daughter-in-law, Melva Walls of Marion; two step-grandsons, Kevin Huff of Sharon, PA, and Bryan Huff and wife, Jillian, of Raleigh; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Jeremy Smith and Eli Harrison; two step-great-grandchildren, Colin and Emmy Huff; three sisters, Dorothy Gutkin of Marion, Virginia Aldridge of Banner Elk and Melba Hayes of Vilas; and three sisters-in-law, Lora Hollars of Vilas, Ruby Greene of Deep Gap and Pearl Coffey and husband, Paul, of Hickory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace James Walls, her son, Kenneth H. Walls, one son-in-law, Clay Townsend, one sister, Edith Greene, and one brother, Clay Hollars.
Funeral services were held at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Wynn Greer and Rev. Burl Greer. Burial at Mountlawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
