THE PASSING OF ARTHUR GREENE
The death of Arthur Greene, veteran traveling representative of the Virginia Paper Co., with headquarters at Jacksonville, comes as a shock to hundreds of men and women engaged in the manufacture of printing and of newspapers from the lowliest worker to the owner. For a score of years and more Mr. Greene had represented the Southeastern territory embracing all of Florida and parts of Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama for his company.
Arthur Greene was an optimist. He believed in God; he believed in himself; he believed in his fellow men; he believed in the future of this great state. He always had a word of cheer for those with whom he came in contact. He knew every phase of his business and was familiar with the operation of the other fellow's activities in the printing industry in his territory.
An indefatigable worker, earnest, honest capable and sincere, Mr. Greene was a welcome visitor to every newspaper and publishing office in Florida and elsewhere. His optimism was contagious and after he paid a visit to one of his newspaper friends, it was as if he had left them with a benediction. Four times each year Arthur Greene visited each city and town in his big territory. He was due to visit Fort Myers this week and had not Death laid sudden hand upon him at Jacksonville last Wednesday he would have been here today.
The Fort Myers Press held Mr. Greene in very high regard, and his passing away comes as a blow to its owners, particularly to George E. Hosmer, the Business Manager, with whom Mr. Greene was associated in the printing and publishing of "The Business Printer," a monthly trade publication issued by this newspaper plant.
The Fort Myers Press extends to Mr. Green's widow and sons and to the Virginia Paper Co., its sincere sympathy in their bereavement regarding as it does his death as a personal loss.
Mr. Greene was born and reared at Franklin, Ind., and came to Florida years ago. His memory will long live in the hearts of the members of the Fourth Estate of Florida. Peace to his ashes!
