Daphene M. Nelson, age 88, of Bellingham, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011. Daphene was born on October 25, 1922, in Durango, Colorado, to Arthur and Irene (Murray) Boughan. She was preceded in death by her husband George Nelson. Daphene was a loving mother and aunt, who was a very caring, hard working, trustworthy and self-sufficient lady. She lovingly cared for her husband and parents in their later years and worked for many years as a licensed caregiver in local facilities. Daphene loved knitting and tending her roses. She volunteered for over thirty years at St. Joseph Hospital's front desk and was an enthusiastic Mariners fan. She will be greatly missed by her son, Gary Nelson; daughter, Linda (Jerry) Evans; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
