Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Parks, age 78, of Fayetteville will be conducted Wednesday September 16, 2015 at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. Bro. Don Pierson will officiate. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery, next to her husband James Billy Parks who died in 2003.

She was a native of Lincoln County and daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Mable Louise Smith Blue Hopkins. She was a seamstress, loved cooking and fishing, and was a member of the Word of Truth Church in Huntsville, AL.

Survivors include daughters Jamie Parks Fortune of Fayetteville, Jill Parks Darnelle of Lester, AL, and Joy Parks (Calvin) Harwell of Fayetteville; a son Jason Billy and Candy West Parks of Fayetteville; brother Luther (Francis) Hopkins; sister Juanita (William) Grissom; grandchildren Dawn Griffith, Kristen (Sam) Smith, Gary (April) Bergman, Chris (Amanada) Floyd, Haley (Jon) Sheroski, Jennifer (Brent) O’Tinger, Amanda (Jeff) Simmons, Ashley, Jacob, Kayla and Trevor Parks and a host of great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, one special niece Tandie Hopkins Moyers and special friend Gracie Lindsey. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by sisters Mary Francis Draper and Loretta Nichols; niece Rebecca Williams; and nephew Larry Walden.
