Mrs Christie Johnston, 85, of 215 W 2nd Ave, Milan, died at 12:40 yesterday afternoon in Comfort Harbor Nursing Home, Milan. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 Saturday afternoon in the Milan Presbyterian Church, with the Rev Lowell M Campbell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon today at the Larson Funeral Home, Milan, where Milan Chapter, No 326, Order of Eastern Star, will conduct rites at 8 tonight.
Mrs Johnston, the former Maggie Blakely, was born May 16, 1884 near Milan, a daughter of Nixon and Sarah Barton Blakely. She received her education in Milan schools and had resided nearly her entire life near Milan.
She was married to James R Hutchinson in 1916 in Milan. He died in July of 1945. She later was married to Mr Johnston, July 2, 1952 in Rock Island.
She was a former member of Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church, Bowling Township, and the Ladies Aid Society. She was honored in March, 1966, as a 50-year member of the Milan Chapter of Eastern Star.
Survivors include the widower, four nieces and two nephews including Howard W. Blakely of Rock Island.
She also was preceded in death by a sister and two bothers.
