BLAKELY
Following a brief service at the home last Sunday morning, the funeral of Mrs. Sarah Blakely was conducted at the Methodist church in Preemption at 10:30 am that day by Rev E. O. England of Taylor Ridge and Rev V. W. Elston of Preemption. Interment was made in the Preemption cemetery.
After an illness lasting for a year, Mrs. Blakely past away at 9:00 o'clock last Friday night at home three miles southwest of Milan, at the age of 70 years, 8 months, 14 days.
Sarah Frances Barton was born on Jan 10, 1856, at Providence, Bureau county, Illinois. In young womanhood, she came to Rock Island county and on Feb 8, 1883, she was married to Nixon Blakely who died on Nov 23, 1915. Mrs. Blakely was an active member at McConnell's Chapel and took much interest in the work of the L A S and the W F M S, the two prominent bodies of the church.
Among those who survive are two daughters, Mrs. J. R. Hutchinson of Bowling and Mrs. Lloyd Hunter of Libby, Mont; a son, William Blakely at the old home; two brothers, Henry Barton of Seattle, Wash, and William Barton of Crete, Nebr; and five grandchildren.
