Born in Bridgeport on July 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Michael and Bertha (Vargo) Hoydilla. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden and had been employed by Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool Co. in West Hartford as a heavy duty machine builder for 25 years and was a past president of Hoydilla's Garage in Middlefield and Higganum for some 23 years. Mr. Hoydilla was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Air Force under Gen. Tunner in Air-Sea Rescue.
Besides his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Lee Hoydilla of Meriden; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter John and Marie Hoydilla, Mark John and Dawn Hoydilla, all of Meriden; a sister, Vera Garstka of Rochester, N.H.; and a brother, William Hoydilla of Florida; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Stephen, Frank and Michael Jr., and three sisters, Ann, Mary and Sue.
