Ward Andrews, age 95, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 12th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Ron Harris will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary, with a 7 P.M. Masonic Service. Memorials may be made to the Aurora United Methodist Church.

OBITUARY: WARD ANDREWS

Ward Basil Andrews, the son of Enoch and Georgia Lenore (Rexroad) Andrews, was born at Pickens, West Virginia on April 30, 1920 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on September 8, 2015, at the age of 95.

Ward grew up in Pickens, West Virginia and graduated from Pickens High School in 1938. He then attended Davis-Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia until his entry in the United States Army. Ward served in World War II from January 6, 1941 until his discharge on January 9, 1945. Following his discharge Ward married Janet MacDougall and they had two sons. He also completed his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Janet passed away several years later.

Ward was united in marriage to Roslyn Beyer on June 14, 1952 in Belleville, Illinois. Ward started working with Sears, Roe Buck & Company in 1946 in Hutchinson, KS. He then moved to Galesburg, IL, Belleville, IL, Carthage, IL, Abilene, KS and Poplar Bluff, MO where he continued to work for Sears Roe Buck & Company. In 1965 they moved to Aurora, Nebraska where they owned and operated the Ben Franklin Store until their retirement in 1985. Roz passed away on December 10, 2013

Ward was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Masonic Lodge, Aurora Country Club, Aurora Rotary Club and the Hamilton Community Foundation. Ward enjoyed playing golf and bridge and they especially enjoyed spending their winters in Green Valley, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives and son, Kerry Andrews.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Kent E. Andrews of Oakland, California and Keith S. (Vicki) Andrews of Pearland, Texas; daughter-in-law, Linda J. Andrews of York; grandchildren, Ben (Melissa) Andrews and Tessa and Taylor Andrews and two great-grandchildren Addison and Caleb Andrews.
