OBITUARY: NORTH CREEK – Clarence F. (Mac) McKee, 77, of Bridget Street, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 24, 1924 in Pottersville, he was the son of the late Frederick and Bessie (Stevens ) McKee.
Following Mr. KcKee's graduation from Pottersville High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force during World War II and also re-enlisted for a hitch during the Korean War.
He married Jane G. (Roblee) McKee on Oct. 22, 1950.
For 39 years, Mr. McKee was a heavy equipment operator with National Lead Corporation in Tahawus before retiring in 1986. He was a longtime active member of the North Creek Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Fire Police. He also was a former member of the Johnsburg Emergency Squad.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Earlier in his life, Mr. McKee was a licensed Adirondack guide.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years; two sons, Dick McKee and his wife, Barb, of Warrensburg, and Dan McKee of North Creek; his sister Mildred McKee of Pottersville; and two grandchildren.
Graveside memorial services will be conducted at the convenience of the family later this spring. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Creek Volunteer Fire Company or the Johnsburg Emergency Squad, North Creek, NY 12853.
Arrangements are with the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., of North River.
