PAULINE HART was born on Aug. l7, l844, at Carlinville, Illinois, and died at her son's home in Jasper County, Iowa, Nov. 27th, l923, age 79 years, 3 months and l0 days. .

When MISS HART was in her late teens, the family removed from Carlinville and went to live in the great State of Missouri. And there in that state in l879, she was married to MR. JAMES MADISON LANDES at Kirksville. .

Soon after their marriage, they came to Decatur County, where they lived for many years. To this union was born one son, MR. ARTHUR H. LANDES, who now lives near Grinnell, Iowa. On March l0th, l895, MRS. LANDES was sorely bereaved in the loss of her husband. After that MRS. LANDES made her home with a favorite niece for a number of years after which she has lived with her son, who has faithfully and lovingly cared for his mother in her failing years. The end came peacefully at about 2:00 p.m. on the 27th. She was conscious to the last and whispered a fond farewell to her son who bent over her to catch the last word. .

Early in life, MRS. LANDES was converted to the religion of the dear Lamb of God and when they came to Iowa, she placed her letter in the Methodist Episcopal Church. The funeral services were held last Thursday at l0:00 from the M.E. Church and were conducted by the Pastor, the Rev. George W. Hall. Many relatives and old time friends and neighbors gathered to pay respects to her life and precious memory. The interment was made at the Westerville Cemetery where her husband was buried so many years before. .
