Helen C. Detmer, 76, died September 3, 2015 at Almost Home, Inc., Great Bend, Kan. She was born October 5, 1938 at Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of John A. and Helen F. (Huslig) Debes. She married John H. Detmer September 5, 1964 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, Kansas. A lifetime Barton County resident, Mrs. Detmer was a homemaker.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she was past Director of Religious Education, Eucharistic Minister, and served on the Liturgical Commission, as well as the Altar Society, Ecumenical Commission of the Dodge City Diocese and the Ecumenical Commission of Great Bend. She was a volunteer for the Great Bend Food Bank and Meals on Wheels and was active in service work for the Capuchin Mission, Papua, New Guinea.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Debes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 7, 2015 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein celebrating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, Kan.
