Services for Rayford A. Bench, 73, of 3806 Roberts, will be held 3:30 p.m. today, in Coker-Mathews-Peters Chapel, with Rev. Bob Layman and Rev. Richard Perry officiating. Mr. Bendh (sic) died 5 a.m. Monday in a Whitewright nursing home. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bench was born May 14, 1902, in Hunt County, to Jim and Etta Atherton Bench. He was a retired guard and a member of the Westview United Methodist Church and a member of Oddfellows and Masonic lodges.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rayford A. Bench, of Greenville; step-mother, Mrs. Jim Bench, of Wolfe City; three daughters, Mrs. Billy Summerlin, of Greenville, Mrs. Glenda McDonald, of Abernathy and Mrs. Peggy Gilbert, of Austin; one brother, Bill Bench, of Greenville; seven sisters, Mrs. Cecil Scott and Mrs. Troy Prince, both of Wolfe City; Mrs. Iris Griffis, of Mabank; Mrs. L.D. Griffin, and Mrs. Verda Gibbs, both of Garland; Mrs. Lewis Arey, of Arlington and Mrs. Jane Bibbons (sic), of Tyler; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Bramlett, Paul Mathews, Ray Kenneth Turner, Preston Turner, Joe Williams and Burl Satterwhite.
