James Rudder was not the real father of Roy, Ace or Frank Rudder. They took the Rudder name when their mother married James. There father was a Meadows.

JUNCTION CITY - A memorial service for Roy L. Rudder of Junction City will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at Harmony Seventh Day Church of God in the Junction City area. He died July 11 of age-related causes at age 89.

He was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Dante, Va., to Jas and Bessie Bush Rudder. He married Ople Chance on Feb. 22, 1993, in Reno, Nev.

He worked for International Paper in Gardiner for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Calvin Estep of Junction City, Ballard Estep of Virginia, Bill Chance of Harrisburg and Frank Chance of Springfield; two daughters, Dixie Powell of Eugene and Ida Bonin of Centralia, Wash.; a sister, Marge Strawderman of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Pacific Sunset Cemetery in Florence. Arrangements by Alpha Cremation Services in Eugene. Remembrances to a hospice.
