The Hagerstown (IN) Exponent, Thursday, September 3, 1914
Mrs. Elizabeth Bowman, wife of D. E. Bowman, died at Reid Memorial hospital, in Richmond, Monday morning. Mrs. Bowman had entered the hospital for treatment two weeks before her death, and for a time it was thought she would recover. She became unconscious, Friday, a state in which she lingered, with occasional brief periods of consciousness, until her death.

The body was taken to the family residence, near White Branch, Monday evening, where it lay in state until Wednesday morning when funeral services were held at the Brick church at 11 o'clock.

The Revs. L. W. Teetor and John Miller conducted the services. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

The bearers were Charley Miller, Harrison Johnsonbaugh, Lewis Himes, John Herr, Will Miller and Daniel Breneman.
