Cherry Toscano Aguirre entered her rest on July 2, 2006.

She was born in Floresville, Texas but during her lifetime she attended schools and worked in various towns, cities and states throughout the United States.

Mrs. Aguirre worked and obtained her education by going to school summers, nights and full sessions when possible. She got her B.A. and Masters Degrees in Education and Administration. Her field in Education for 25 years included Early Childhood, Kindergarten thru 7th grade, master teacher in reading and math and elementary consultant.

She was a member and held several offices in teachers' administration and P.T.A. organizations. During World War II, while her husband was in the U.S. Navy, she worked with the U.S. Navy and Brooks General Hospital at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. After the war she worked with the State Department of Health in Edinburg, Texas as office clerk, secretary and supervisor.

While her husband attended in the University of California, she worked in the Oakland Procurement Base. Cherry retired on June 30, 1977 and with her husband they enjoyed their retirement years to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur M. Aguirre who passed away on September 17, 1994. They had no children. Cherry is survived by her three sisters, Mary Muniz and late husband, Rogelio, Adeline Sosa and husband, Rallie, Sophie Jimenez and husband, Jimmy; many beloved nieces, nephews and good friends.

The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Roy Akers-Zizik Kearns Funeral Chapels to recite a 7:00 p.m. Rosary. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2006 to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will follow. The family of Cherry would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Milton Alvis for all of his help and concern, the staff of Vitas Hospice Center whose caring and warmth helped the family during this difficult time.
