Steven M. “Steve” Campbell, 55, former Parsons resident, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at his home in Lake Jackson, Texas.

He was born at Emporia on November 19, 1959 to Jim and Barbara “Bobbie” (Eakins) Campbell. The family returned to Parsons when he was one year old and he grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1977.

Steve had lived in Lake Jackson 36 years where he worked in radiation inspection and currently was employed by Advanced Corrosion Technologies and Training as a radiation safety and training officer.

He had many interests in life and was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Parsons. He loved sports, bowling, classic rock n’ roll, spending the day at the beach playing horse shoes, watching the Kansas Jayhawks play basketball and doing yard work. He always made sure the birds had enough to eat and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

On May 3, 1997 he and Joyce Purdy were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Parsons. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his parents, Jim and Bobbie Campbell, of Parsons; daughters, Kaitlyn Campbell and Camie Jackson; sons, Raymond Campbell and Aaron Detwiler; seven grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends. His grandparents preceded him in death.
