Presumably his death occurred in Pitminster and he was buried there with his wife and daughters. However, no details of his death and burial are known at this time.

Also, he has been reported as the son of Richard Cox, Dean of Westminster and Bishop of Ely. However, no documented reference to such a connection has been seen and it seems highly unlikely.
