Dave & Mary M. were both graduates of the Holly Grove Lutheran Academy, however, both became active in First Baptist Church of Lexington. When he came to Lexington from Holly Grove in 1892, he became a clerk for J.F. Ward, Co. He helped organize Elk Furniture Co and was secretary and treasurer until 1898, when he was appointed Lexington Postmaster, serving one term until 1902. He was reappointed in 1911 and served until 1915. He organized Conrad Hardware Co. in Lexington, which he operated until his untimely death 20 Feb. 1925.Mr.Conrad died in Lexington, NC, Davidson County.
Children of this union: Moselle Sigmond (who died in her Freshman year at Women's College, now UNC-G), Beulah, Druid Homer, Mary Cornelia, Mildred Evaline, and David Franklin Jr.
