"Capt. Fred Anderson passed away at the home of his son Glenn, June 8, 1941 at the age of 83. He had not been well for three years. He was born at Port Ontario Apr 2, 1858, the son of William and Emma Anderson. At the age of 14 he became a sailor on the Great Lakes and in March of 1880 entered the Coast Guard service at Big Sandy and later was transferred to Oswego where he served until he retired in August 1916.
Capt. Anderson married Miss Emma Stevens in 1881 at Ellisburg. She survives him besides his son Glenn Anderson and one adopted daughter Mrs. Lillian North of Oswego. Fred had six siblings, all predeceased him. William Anderson Jr; Emma "Delia" Anderson Hendrickson; Lettie Anderson; Robert B Anderson and Cora Anderson.
The bearers were men from Charlotte and Oswego Coast Guard stations. Burial was in Ellisburg cemetery with Rev W R Carter officiating."
