April 23, 1929 ~ August 15, 2015 (age 86) Georgia Godbey Lewis, age 86, of the Highland community in Lincoln County, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at her residence. Born Tuesday, April 23, 1929 in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry Arnold & Georgia Sykes Godbey. She was the widow of the late William L. Lewis, who preceded her in death June 10, 2003. Georgia was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Green River Pentecostal Church and also was the writer for “Green River Pentecostal Church News” for many years. She also provided food and housing for visiting ministers throughout the years. Georgia will be remembered for her unconditional love of her Lord and the love, above and beyond, for her family.
Georgia leaves behind one son, David Lewis (Linda) of McKinney; two daughters, Becky Sparkman (Orlis) of Highland and Jane Burton (Steve) of Glasgow; six grandchildren, John David Sparkman (Daphne), Dwayne Lewis (Donna), Steven Lewis Burton (Jennifer), Michael Paul Burton, Allen Scott Lewis (Krystal), and Julie Milburn (David); ten great-grandchildren, Joshua David Milburn, Jonathan Ryan Milburn, John William Sparkman, Gavin Lewis, McKinley Lewis, Brody Lewis, Alaina Lewis, Austin Burton, Travis Burton, and Henry Burton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Godbey, Osprey Godbey, and Perle Godbey; and one sister, Lorraine Martin.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Green River Pentecostal Church with Bro. Rick Naylor, Bro. Glenn Wilson, and David Milburn officiating the service. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. John David Sparkman, Dwayne Lewis, Steven Lewis Burton, Michael Paul Burton, Allen Scott Lewis, and Joshua David Milburn will serve as Active Pallbearers. Jonathan Ryan Milburn, Julie Milburn, David Milburn, and great-grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
A Visitation will be held 6-9PM Monday, August 17, 2015 at the church. A Second Visitation will be held 11AM, until service time, Tuesday at the church.
